Former NFL player Gosder Cherilus arrested for alleged urination incident on Delta flight to Ireland

A former NFL player was arrested Saturday night for allegedly disturbing the peace, including urinating on a fellow passenger on a Delta flight to Dublin, Ireland.

According to Boston 25 News, Gosder Cherilus was arrested after the flight was diverted to Logan Airport and was handcuffed for disrupting the flight crew and disorderly conduct.

“Delta flight 154 from Boston to Dublin on August 17 returned to Boston Logan due to a misbehaving passenger and was met by police,” a Delta spokesperson told the outlet. “Delta does not tolerate any unlawful behavior and will cooperate with police in this regard. We apologize to our customers for the delay to their travel.”

Cherilus allegedly urinated on another passenger, a source told Boston 25 News. The first-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft will be arraigned in East Boston District Court on Monday.

The passengers affected by the incident were rebooked on a new flight departing for Dublin on Sunday evening and arriving on Monday.

Cherilus, a tackle during his playing days, spent nine seasons in the NFL after being selected 17th overall by the Lions in 2008.

During his career, he spent a total of five seasons with the Lions before playing two for the Colts and two for the Buccaneers.

Cherilus played 132 games during his career and started 116 of them before retiring in 2016.

The 40-year-old is from Massachusetts, played football at Sommerville High School and was named All-Scholastic by the Boston Globe and Boston Herald in his senior year.

He played his entire college football career at Boston College and was inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame on October 27, 2023.

Cherilus' Instagram bio lists him as CEO of Bastion Companies and founder of the Gosder Cherilus Foundation.
