2 people arrested for illegal drug possession after authorities obtained search warrants

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – Officers in Cherokee County executed several search warrants this week, resulting in the arrest of two people and the seizure of several narcotics and weapons.

According to authorities, the Cherokee County Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant on County Road 142 and seized illegal narcotics.

After executing the search warrant, authorities arrested Sheila Antoienette Bevels, 57, of Fort Payne, on two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officials said the sheriff's office also conducted a separate drug investigation that led them to Dekalb County, where Cherokee and Dekalb County officials executed a search warrant on Highway 176.

During the search, authorities seized numerous firearms and narcotics.

After executing the warrant, officers arrested 43-year-old Joshua Allen Meadows, also of Fort Payne, for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

Bevels and Meadows were both taken to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
