A dental student of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) in Rohtak has accused a junior doctor of the anatomy department of kidnapping and assaulting her.

Following her complaint on August 16, the police arrested the defendant and initiated an investigation.

According to police officials, no evidence of sexual harassment or rape has been found so far in the victim's statement or in the ongoing investigation.

Rohtak Deputy Commissioner of Police Virendra Singh confirmed that a first-year BDS student of PGIMS filed a complaint last night alleging that she was abducted and attacked.

The case has attracted considerable attention following the publication of a video on social media platform X.

In the video, the student is seen crying and showing injuries from the alleged assault. She claims that the abuse has been going on for seven months and claims that the accused threatened to reduce her school attendance if she reported the incidents to the school administration.

A spokesperson of the University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, confirmed that the accused resident Maninder Kaushik, an anatomy resident at PGIMS, was expelled from the institution and banned from the campus, according to the Times of India Report.

This incident came against the backdrop of nationwide protests by doctors and the medical community in response to the recent rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
