Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud: Government now focuses on curbing inflation

DHAKA, August 19, 2024 (BSS) – Advisor to the Transitional Government on the
Minister for Planning and Education Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud said today that
The government is currently concentrating on controlling inflation and does not want to
to increase the money supply.

“Categorize the projects according to their importance,” the consultant asked the
Officials of the Ministry of Planning during the opening speech during his
first meeting with its officials and subordinate bodies in the NEC
Conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar today.

Mentioned that many projects were supported by the political governments in
their electorate taking into account their political goals, he said: “But,
I do not criticise political governments when they do this.”

Regarding the termination of ongoing projects in the middle of implementation,
The planning consultant said: “The question to consider is what the rest is
the costs and what will be the economic benefit after completion
project. That is the only consideration,” he added.
