Women tie up their brothers with rakhis in Raipur Central Jail

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India]August 19 (ANI): Raipur Central Jail authorities on Monday allowed women to tie rakhis to their brothers inside the jail on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Security arrangements have been made to ensure smooth conduct of the celebration.

This is the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic that sisters met their brothers on Raksha Bandhan at Raipur Central Jail.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Raksha Bandhan in the capital today with schoolgirls tying rakhis around his wrists.
This morning, the Prime Minister greeted the people and prayed for their happiness and prosperity.

“Best wishes to all countrymen on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, a festival that symbolises the immense love between a brother and a sister. May this holy festival bring new sweetness in the relationships of all of you and happiness, prosperity and success in life,” Prime Minister Modi posted on X.
President Droupadi Murmu also extended his congratulations on the occasion, which celebrates the bond between siblings.
President Murmu said the festival conveys a sense of affection and respect to all sisters and daughters.
In a post on X, President Droupadi Murmu said, “On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to all the countrymen. This festival, based on the feeling of love and mutual trust between brothers and sisters, instills a sense of affection and respect for all sisters and daughters.”
Raksha Bandhan, commonly known as Rakhi, is celebrated on Monday (today). It is a traditional Hindu festival dedicated to the love and bond between brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters tie a Rakhi on the wrists of their brothers. In return, brothers offer gifts to their sisters as a token of love and care.
Raksha Bandhan is a festival deeply rooted in Indian culture and has been celebrated for centuries. Hindu religious texts mention instances of sisters tying Rakhi around their brothers' wrists for protection. (ANI)
