Man charged with killing two women and having sex with their corpses after NSA allegations

Barabanki, UP: The district administration here has invoked the National Security Act against a man accused of murdering two women and performing sexual acts with their bodies, officials said on Monday.

The NSA was filed on Saturday against Amrendra Rawat (26), who was arrested last year for the murder of a woman in the Ramsanehi Ghat area, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Akhilesh Narayan Singh.

He was also charged under the Gangster Act in May last year, police added.

Singh said the NSA was called in due to the heinousness of the crime, which would make it difficult for the accused to get bail.

“Rawat confessed to us that he murdered the women and then performed sexual acts with the bodies,” he said.

According to police, the strangled and disheveled body of a 60-year-old woman was discovered in a nearby forest in the Ramsanehi Ghat police station area on December 29, 2022.

“During the investigation, it emerged that the woman was raped after the murder,” Singh said, adding that a similar incident had also been reported in December 2022.

Rawat was caught in January last year when he tried to kill another elderly woman in the neighbouring Ayodhya district, police added.
