Double trouble for Taroona and Launceston: The 2024 TRU finalists have been announced

The 2024 TRU finalists have been decided after the state's juniors and seniors delivered some great results in the penultimate week.

In the Premiership semi-final, Salisio Naisorotabu and Kyle Lombard powered forward as premiers Launceston 1 steamrolled Glenorchy 47-14 to book their fourth consecutive final place.

Taroona produced a similar result at home against Devonport, scoring six tries to two in a commanding 45-12 victory that earned them a third consecutive invitation to the big dance.

Launceston 2 caused an upset in the championship semi-finals, beating Burnie 41-34 at Emu Park, while Hobart Lions, making their debut in the minor championship, beat University 12-3 at Sandy Bay.

In the women's competition, Taroona beat the Tigers 15-0 to book their ticket to the grand final, before UniQueens secured a thrilling 21-20 victory over Glenorchy.

The Does scored four tries to three against their rivals but were unable to capitalise on their chances from the tee as Erika Ledster's strike secured the narrowest of wins for UniQueens.

Meanwhile, Bulls and Eastern Stags go into this weekend's national junior deciders as favourites after surprising minor premiers Hutchins in their respective penultimate round matches.

These results mean that the Launceston, Taroona and Hobart Hutchins Lions will fly their flag in multiple finals, while all of the state's clubs will be represented in some form this weekend.

The Tigers have a golden chance to win the men's Premiership and Championship divisions, the Penguins have their sights set on a historic Women's Premiership double and Lions fans have their fingers crossed for a national junior double and a men's Championship crown.
