Shooting at Chicago Ridge Mall: Teenager arrested, another injured outside Dick's Sporting Goods in Ridgeland Avenue mall, police say

CHICAGO RIDGE, Ill. (WLS) — An argument that started at Chicago Ridge Mall ended in a shootout near the parking lot on Saturday, police said.

Four people got into an argument at Dick's Sporting Goods that ended in a fight between two of them outside the location at 9800 S. Ridgeland Avenue.

The shooting occurred around 7:10 p.m. According to Chicago Ridge police, four shots were fired.

A 17-year-old was shot in the upper body. He was taken to hospital and released after treatment.

The teenager who allegedly fired the gun was also 17 years old.

Police said the suspect was taken to hospital and released after treatment. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Chicago Ridge Police seized the gun used in the shooting.

Two charges are now being brought against the suspect, namely aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

He was detained pending his detention hearing.

Due to their age, police were unable to identify either the suspect or the victim.
