Kala Raksha Bandhan: Resident doctors protest after tragic incident

Resident doctors at medical colleges and hospitals across Uttar Pradesh observed 'Kala Raksha Bandhan' on Monday while poll services remained paralysed for the eighth consecutive day. The strike is in protest against the alleged rape and murder of a resident doctor in Kolkata.

Resident doctors in several states have joined the protest by stopping their elective services, including outpatient departments. Hardeep Jogi, state president of Uttar Pradesh Resident Doctors Association, confirmed the ongoing strike and said that outpatient and other services across the state have been affected.

“Today, on Raksha Bandhan, junior doctors have observed 'Kala Raksha Bandhan',” Jogi told PTI, adding that the association plans to write to the state government demanding measures to ensure safety of junior doctors in medical institutions.
