Minnesota man dies after being thrown from car in rollover crash in Iowa

Scarville, IA (KROC-AM News) – Authorities A man from southern Minnesota was the victim of a fatal rollover accident in northern Iowa over the weekend.

The Iowa State Patrol responded to the fatal crash Sunday morning just after 10:40 a.m. One vehicle was involved.

The Iowa State Accident Report identifies the fatal accident victim as 63-year-old Mark Claassen of Albert Lea.

He was driving a pickup truck on a country road near Scarville, just over 20 miles southwest of Albert Lea, when he failed to negotiate a curve while traveling south on 200th Avenue, the accident report said.

The pickup truck overturned and Claassen was thrown from the truck. Authorities say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Claassen was pronounced dead at the scene. The fatal accident near the Minnesota-Iowa border is still under investigation.
