NAB accuses PTI founder of transferring 190 million pounds to Supreme Court account while prime minister

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News/Web Desk) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday restrained the trial court from announcing the final verdict in the ₹190 million case on a petition filed by Imran Khan.

A bench comprising Justice Babar Sattar and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the case over objections from the registrar.

The applicant’s lawyers, advocates Salman Safdar and Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry, appeared before the judges.

The plaintiff's lawyers argued, “There were 35 witnesses in the case against the PTI founder, the last witness is being examined. Moreover, the PTI founder was arrested from the IHC premises in the Al-Qadir Trust case (£190 million).”

According to the complaint, the NAB initially filed charges against eight defendants.

Lawyer Salman said that according to NAB, the NCA seized ₹190 million. The allegation of NAB is that the plaintiff, when he was the prime minister, facilitated the transfer of ₹190 million. The amount was transferred to the Supreme Court account and not to the State Bank of Pakistan, he argued.

Salman Safdar said they had requested the court to obtain the minutes of the NAB board meeting, but the court rejected the request.

The trial judge gave surprising reasons for this, and the lawyer informed the court.

The court has served a notice on NAB and asked for a response by Wednesday.

It may be recalled that on August 16, former Prime Minister Imran Khan urged the IHC to quash the trial in the ₹190 million case.
