Motorcyclist taken to hospital with serious injuries after accident

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – A minivan driver made an illegal U-turn in Sioux Falls on Sunday, causing a motorcyclist to be taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

According to Sioux Falls Police, the accident occurred at 12:30 p.m. on August 18 at the intersection of Benson Road and Northview Avenue near the entrance to Fleet Farm.

A 2005 Chrysler minivan was traveling on Benson Road and attempted to turn left in a place where only right turns were allowed.

A 34-year-old Brandon man was riding a motorcycle north on Northview Avenue when the minivan attempted to turn right and collided with the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist suffered a serious leg injury and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The SFPD had no update on his condition.

The 42-year-old driver of the 2005 Chrysler minivan received several citations, including for reckless driving, suspended license and having an open container in the vehicle.
