Michigan man arrested for drug charges at Phish Festival

DOVER, Delaware – A Michigan man was arrested on numerous drug charges at the Phish Mondegreen Festival on Saturday.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., police officers on duty at the festival were alerted by security after a visitor, identified as 41-year-old Douglas Gallagher, fled a security checkpoint when a routine search of his vehicle revealed suspected illegal drugs. When Gallagher returned to the security checkpoint, police officers arrested him and proceeded to a nearby campsite, where Gallagher allegedly hid a small plastic container after fleeing the security checkpoint.

According to police, the seized container contained several illegal substances, including LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide), ketamine and MDMA. During the search of Gallagher's vehicle, police seized the following:

  • Approximately 46.10 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
  • Approximately 1.18 grams of MDMA
  • Approximately 2.24 grams of ketamine
  • Approximately 19 tablets of LSD
  • Approximately 42.46 grams of marijuana
  • About 21 MDMA pills
  • A small plastic container with gummy bears suspected of containing THC
  • Distribution/packaging materials

Gallagher was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a Level 3 amount, possession of a controlled substance in a Level 1 amount, possession of marijuana in an amount not for personal use, three counts of possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance (excluding human growth hormone), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
