Woman killed in northeast Portland shooting identified

PORTLAND, Oregon (KPTV) – A 33-year-old woman killed in a shooting early Sunday morning has been identified by Portland police.

On August 18 at approximately 2:42 a.m., officers responded to a shooting at the intersection of Northeast 104th Avenue and Northeast Wasco Street. When officers arrived, they found a woman dead.

On Monday, police identified the victim as Melody A. Rooks.

The Portland Police Bureau is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Sunday evening in the Buckman neighborhood.

The coroner confirmed that Rooks died from a gunshot wound and ruled her death a homicide.

No arrests have been made so far.
