“I want to be as famous as SRK,” says Urofi Javed

Urofi Javed has been turning heads with her bold and unique fashion choices since the pandemic, making statements with clothes she designed herself. Now, her impromptu debut show on Prime Video, Follow Kar Lo Yaar, offers a glimpse into her daily life and her journey to becoming India's Kim Kardashian, giving audiences an insight into her ambitions.

Excerpts from a chat.

“I am not an inspiration to anyone. I do it for myself. But if people get inspired by Follow Kar Lo Yaar, that's fine,” she says matter-of-factly. Talking about her unconventional fashion statements, Urofi says, “My persistence in coming out with different styles has made an impression on people. My work is being recognized and people like it.”

Urofi denied that she embodies the modern girl, saying: “I am myself. It is important to be yourself. You should just portray who you are in real life.”

Your aspirations

“I really hope I can do great work. Mujhe Shahrukh Khan is my name. I don't know if there can be another Shahrukh. I don't even come close to him. But I want to be as famous as SRK.” She added, “I feel my journey has just begun. Till now, it was just a trailer… the journey is yet to begin.” On the fact that she doesn't have a godfather in the industry, Urofi said, “There were people who stood by my side. My team and family have always supported me.”

Your motto

Urofi believes in the principle that “change is the spice of life”. She says, “Life is constantly changing. You discover yourself every day in accordance with the environment and situation. Therefore, it is very important to adapt to the environment and situation and continue to change accordingly.”
