Roadside aggression incident leads to shooting at Bellingham intersection

BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A man is in custody after a road rage incident in Bellingham that escalated into a shooting.

Bellingham Police speaker Megan Peters says the shooting occurred at the intersection of Iowa and Moore Streets around 9 a.m. on August 18. The incident involved a green Ford Explorer and a silver Honda sedan.

Peters said the shooting victim drove himself to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center, where detectives were waiting to ask him questions after his treatment.

Investigators have identified a suspect in the shooting and developed probable cause to arrest him on charges of first-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

The 23-year-old man was booked into the Whatcom County Jail around 5:00 p.m. on August 18 and remains there without bail.
