Investigators found that the interior temperature of the vehicle was 140 to 150 degrees.

According to Semmes, work records indicate that Cormier was at work for two hours before taking the little girl to the hospital around 4 p.m.

Authorities said the baby had a fever of 42.3 degrees when he arrived at the hospital.

The baby died in the hospital the following night.

Cormier was arrested Sunday afternoon on charges of cruelty to juveniles and premeditated murder.

Semmes said witness testimony, forensic evidence, surveillance video and electronic records led investigators to charge Cormier with first-degree murder rather than involuntary manslaughter.

He described the case as “complex” but could not provide further details.
