Suspect charged with murder in drive-by shooting in Spokane Valley

SPOKANE, Wash. – The suspect in a drive-by shooting Sunday night at North Argonne Road and East Trent Avenue was charged with murder Monday by the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, 43-year-old Marc Rinard shot a man who had stopped at the intersection of Argonne and Trent.

“Rinard pulled his black Dodge truck up to the passenger side of the victim's vehicle and began yelling at the victim… Suddenly, Rinard fired a handgun, striking the victim before fleeing the scene in an easterly direction,” the sheriff's office said.

The woman in the passenger seat of the car was not hit, while the man who was shot was pronounced dead at the intersection.

Sheriff's officers searched for Rinard's truck and tracked him to a home in the 4900 block of North Rees Road. He was taken into custody after officers approached him there.

The sheriff's office says Rinard did not know the man he allegedly shot and that he exhibited unsafe driving prior to the shooting.
