Justin Herbert is back on the field after a long break due to a foot injury.

The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback has been out of action since July but returned on Monday and was seen throwing passes at the team's practice facility.

Herbert was diagnosed with a plantar fascia injury in his right foot and had been wearing a walking boot for the past few weeks. He recently stopped wearing the boot and was back on the field soon after.

The athletics Daniel Popper noticed that Herbert was not wearing cleats, but “some kind of sneakers/turf shoes.”

After the injury was diagnosed, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said he expected Herbert to play in Los Angeles' first week against the Las Vegas Raiders, and his return to the practice field was a good sign that he was ready.

Herbert has remained injury-free for most of his four-year career, but has struggled with some missteps recently. In December, he suffered a season-ending finger injury that ended his streak of 62 consecutive games played.

Fortunately for Herbert and the Chargers, he probably won't have to miss any time because of his foot injury.

Last season, Herbert had 3,134 passing yards and 25 touchdowns in 13 games. In his final full season in 2022, he amassed 4,739 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Although Herbert has been a standout quarterback for the Chargers, it hasn't brought the team much success. Los Angeles has only reached the postseason once during Herbert's tenure, finishing 5-12 last season, after which head coach Brandon Staley was fired.

With a healthy Herbert and a new head coach, the Chargers will now try to turn things around.
