Laredo police investigate possible overdose death in the 100 block of Grant St.

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – Laredo police are investigating the cause of death of a 32-year-old man found near a local water park.

Laredo Police responded to a 911 call about a man lying on the ground in the 100 block of Grant Street, where they found a male subject.

The Laredo Fire Department arrived on scene and confirmed the person's death.

Jose Espinoza of the Laredo police says a toxicology report is pending to determine the cause of death.

“Investigators from the Overdose Task Force also arrived at the scene as officers found drug paraphernalia near the victim's body. The case is currently being investigated as an overdose death, bringing the number of victims (from overdoses) this year to 31,” Espinoza said.

Espinoza adds that there were a total of 66 overdose deaths last year, 2023.
