Second man sentenced in Emilio Valez murder case; mother's sentencing postponed – Macomb Daily

A second person was sentenced Monday in connection with the 2018 murder of a 20-year-old man in Pontiac, while sentencing for his mother – who is also the killer's mother – was postponed.

At a hearing in Oakland County District Court, Judge Daniel O'Brien sentenced 30-year-old Center Line resident Juan Diego Hernandez to six days in jail, with one day already served, for lying to a police officer during the investigation into the murder of Emilio Valdez.

Valdez's body was found in Osmun Lake in Pontiac on June 7, 2018, but it took four years for charges to be filed.
