Investigators are investigating two shootings in different states

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (WAFB) – After two shootings on our highways last weekend, some drivers can't wait to get back behind the wheel.

Baton Rouge police are currently trying to determine what led to a shooting on I-110 late Saturday night.

Officials said 22-year-old Antoine Bowie was driving on the highway near Government Street when another vehicle pulled up next to him and shot him and his passenger. Bowie succumbed to his injuries, but his passenger is expected to survive. Based on their investigation, BRPD believes Bowie was the target.

“We know that the victim was involved in other things unrelated to this particular shooting and that his extracurricular activities may have led to this particular shooting,” said Lt. L'Jean McKneely.

Bow investigators are asking for help in determining who pulled the trigger and why.

“The street is talking, it's spreading information,” McKneely said. “People who know the victim are sharing information with each other, so we're asking them to share that information with us to point us in a direction.”

However, officials assure that this is an isolated case.

“This is not a coincidence,” McKneely said. “Nobody just drives onto the highway, picks a car and shoots it. There was definitely some confrontation between the shooter, the suspect and the victim.”

This also seems to be the case in Ascension Parish.
