When will new episodes be released?

The filmmakers behind Netflix's pandemic sensation “Tiger King” are back to tell another story about domesticated animals. This time, Tonia Haddix and her 32-year-old former Hollywood chimp Tonka star in Eric Goode's documentary series “Chimp Crazy.”

As seen in the HBO docuseries, Haddix's love of animals may have gone too far. After entering the shady market of wild animals as pets, animal welfare groups like PETA got wind of her dealings and the self-proclaimed “Dolly Parton of chimpanzees” found herself embroiled in a sticky legal battle.

Although “Tiger King” is similar in its treatment of illegal animal farming by quirky main characters, Goode shifts from a lascivious look at his subjects to one of productivity. Tonka's former “Buddy” co-star Alan Cumming features heavily in the docuseries, often acting as a mediator between animal rights groups and owners like Haddix.

Goode's four-part series reveals the consequences of private primate keeping and the imposition of human characteristics on captive apes who have no control over where and how they live.
