The suspect in the Houston Midtown hit-and-run case has been identified as Sanden James George. He is accused of attacking his partner and killing the nightclub manager

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Police have identified the driver who allegedly tried to hit his girlfriend but fatally injured another woman, the manager of a nightclub in Houston Midtown.

According to Houston police, officers arrested 35-year-old Sanden James George shortly after he allegedly killed the 41-year-old victim around 3 a.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of San Jacinto Street.

Based on evidence and witness statements, police said George and his 24-year-old girlfriend got into a physical fight at a nightclub before security asked them to leave. Outside, the man got into his car and tried to hit the girlfriend, but instead hit another woman standing on the sidewalk. The victim's family confirmed that she was a manager of a nearby nightclub and was in the process of closing the club for the night when she died.

The victim, whose identity the police have not yet established, died at the scene. His girlfriend was not seriously injured.

According to police, George fled on foot while nightclub employees attempted to pursue him. Witnesses pointed police to the suspect lying a half-mile away near the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, where police arrested him.

George is charged with murder and assault on a family member and is scheduled to appear in 208th District Court on Wednesday, according to records.
