Naugatuck man arrested for assaulting woman

NAUGATUCK, CT (WFSB) – A Naugatuck man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman on Tuesday, August 13th.

Naugatuck police responded to Church Street around 6:30 p.m. after a man attacked a woman.

Witnesses informed officers that the suspect walked away in the direction of Park Place.

When police arrived, they observed 23-year-old Anthony Martinoli of Naugatuck fleeing the scene.

He was quickly arrested and taken into custody.

The investigation revealed that there had been a heated argument between Martinoli and the woman, which escalated into a physical altercation.

The woman suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital for examination.

Martinoli is charged with second-degree assault, obstructing an officer and resisting arrest.

He was held on a $100,000 fine and is scheduled to be arraigned in Waterbury Superior Court on August 14, 2024.
