CM to go to jail in Muda case: Shettar

Belagavi: Former Prime Minister And Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar claimed that Prime Minister Siddaramaiah will definitely go to prison in the Muda case. “He will be charged in the Muda case and legal action will be taken against him,” he said.
Shettar was speaking after inaugurating the newly opened district (rural) office of the BJP near Dharmanath Bhavan on Monday. “I have studied the Muda case from all angles. As a lawyer, I can say that there are several clear irregularities in this case and Siddaramaiah is guilty. He got away in the Arkavathy Layout denotification case but has no chance in this case. Though Congress leaders and workers are voicing their support to Siddaramaiah, many leaders are very happy and the result will be announced soon,” he said.
Shettar argued that the disputed land was released during the Congress government. “The land was given to Siddaramaiah's wife as agricultural land through a gift deed. However, by that time, the land was already under cultivation. Another violation is that Siddaramaiah's wife did not get the land share when Muda introduced 50:50 ratio between land and farmers. The 14 alternate sites for the land were allotted in Vijayanagar Layout developed ten years ago. Also, Siddaramaiah in his election declaration stated the price of the land as Rs 6-10 crore. Now he is demanding compensation of Rs 66 crore,” he said. On the allegations that alternate land was allotted during the BJP government, he said, “This is an exceptional case where the alternate sites were approved at the Muda Commissioner level without informing the Urban Development Department. The BJP government would be responsible only if it had happened at the government level.”
