Trouble is brewing at tight end for the struggling Seattle Seahawks

After tight ends dropped like flies during training camp and the first two preseason games in recent weeks, the Seattle Seahawks brought in reinforcements on Monday ahead of their final test game, raising questions about the future development of this position.

Because he's dealing with a lower-body injury, starter Noah Fant has missed most of the last two weeks of practice and apparently hasn't played in either of the two preseason games. Meanwhile, veteran Pharaoh Brown, who the Seahawks signed as a free agent in March, suffered a foot injury last Thursday during their last practice together against the Titans. While he hopes to be back in the game by the start of the regular season, the fact that he needed a second opinion on his injury is not encouraging.

In addition, undrafted rookie Jack Westover missed Saturday's preseason game due to a hamstring injury, but coach Mike Macdonald did not provide any information on the severity of the strain or how long he might be out.

With Fant, Brown and Westover all out for the time being, Seattle had only three healthy tight ends – Brady Russell, Tyler Mabry and rookie AJ Barner – for the week of practice before Saturday's preseason home game against Cleveland. Desperate to add players, the team practiced with five tight ends on Sunday, eventually signing former UCLA star Michael Ezeike and undrafted rookie Devon Garrison of Pittsburg State as additional reinforcements.

In the wake of injury and roster news, Locked On Seahawks hosts Corbin Smith and Rob Rang discuss the latest on Brown and the signing of two former undrafted rookie tight ends via the player's Instagram account. They reveal their first “Monday Musings” of the year, looking back at Seattle's 15-16 loss to Tennessee on Saturday night in Nashville, including the standout play from the first unit on the line, and share their latest updates on their 53-man roster projections.
