Tesla Cybertruck tows statue of Elon Musk through Texas: Stunt linked to NFTs, meme coin of famous Reddit sketch

The Tesla Cybertruck has proven itself in several use cases since its launch, including being used on a farm and as a fashion accessory by celebrities. It transports a statue of Elon Musk around can now be added to the list of things Cybertruck owners can do.

What happened: Images of a statue of Elon Musk being pulled through Texas by a Cybertruck caught the attention of Tesla influencers and electric vehicle websites.

Brownsville, Texas, home of The The starbase was one of the places where the statue was seen.

The statue is the project of a group called ElonRWAaccording to a report by Torque News. The statue was commissioned based on a notoriously bad drawing by Musk that has since become a meme.

“Located near the ElonRWall, this 106 x 96 x 66-inch statue is part of ElonDAO's first project and their first attempt at physically representing a meme. This (not so) small shrine is sure to attract the public's attention and serves as both a tribute to Musk's achievements and a reminder of his epic failures,” the ElonRWA website states.

The drawing was shared on Reddit five years ago and attracted many comments. When it finally caught Musk's attention, he responded that the drawing was “like looking in the mirror.”

ElonRWA took ownership of the original drawing and converted it into an NFT.

“We found the original iconic sketch of Elon Musk and turned it into a (RWA) meme coin with real-world assets,” the group said, according to the report.

The statue is presumably intended to promote the meme coin ElonRWA and give it increased attention before its final placement.

Why it is important: ElonRWA had previously created a mural of the famous Musk drawing in Brownsville.

Given Musk's previous aversion to NFTs, the statue and coin behind the project are unlikely to elicit a positive reaction from the billionaire.

Musk also previously ignored a nine-meter-high, 5.4-ton metal statue of him that was made by the co-founders of the crypto token Elon Goat and sent to Tesla headquarters in Austin, Texas.

The Elon Goat statue depicts Musk's head on the body of a goat riding a rocket. The goat was a reference to Musk being the “Greatest of All Time,” an acronym often associated with athletes.

The self-proclaimed Elon superfans who created Elon Goat failed to attract Musk's attention.
