Two dead in incident at North Andover home, prosecutor says

According to the Eagle-Tribune, a mother and her young child were stabbed to death in North Andover on Monday.

Two people died in an incident at a home in North Andover on Monday, officials confirmed.

Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker's office said one person died after being taken to the hospital with serious injuries from the Turnpike Street home. The other was pronounced dead inside the home.

The Eagle Tribune The newspaper said initial reports suggested a mother and a small child were the victims of a stabbing, possibly an infant according to some of its sources. The newspaper said there was no immediate arrest or search for a suspect.

Tucker's office did not comment on the circumstances of the incident or the identity or relationship of the victims.

“This is currently being considered an isolated case and authorities do not believe there is currently a major threat to the public,” the prosecutor's office said.

North Andover police, Massachusetts State Police and the District Attorney's Office are “in the early stages of an active investigation,” Tucker's office said in a statement. They are asking the public to stay away from the scene.

No further information was immediately released.
