Charges dropped against man in Independence Center shooting

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri (KCTV) – Charges have been dropped against a man accused of shooting a pregnant woman at Independence Center in November.

The Jackson County District Attorney's Office told KCTV that the charges were dropped after new evidence was presented.

“New evidence showed that we could not prove our case,” a spokesman for the prosecutor's office said on Monday evening.

The dropped charges were against 21-year-old Mark Anthony Greer, who was accused of shooting and wounding three people at the Independence Center on Friday, November 10, 2023.

In November, Greer was charged with three counts of unlawful use of a weapon and three counts of armed criminal action. Those charges have since been dropped.

The case remains under investigation.
