JACKSON, Tennessee – We take a closer look at some of the crimes that occurred over the weekend.

We begin with what was supposed to be a street party that resulted in a murder in the area of Greenfield Drive and Foxlea Drive around 2 a.m. on Sunday, August 18. We have obtained new Ring door camera footage from the moments before the shooting.

When officers arrived, they found an unconscious victim with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, where the person was pronounced deceased.

As part of the ongoing investigation into the fatal motorcycle crash at the intersection of Casey Jones Lane and Route 45 Bypass, the co-owner of the mobile gas station is providing footage and his firsthand account of the events he says unfolded on the morning of Saturday, August 17.

“The car came to refuel at my place. He was drunk and hit the biker. There were about 15 to 20 police officers and an ambulance there – then the fire broke out,” said the co-owner.

Also on Saturday, a shooting occurred at a Conger Street apartment that led to a standoff with Allenton Heights police. After several hours, the suspect eventually surrendered unharmed. A neighbor said there must be a safe place for the children in the area.

“All these things are happening and happening – I'm one of the mothers whose loved ones were killed over the weekend – two weeks ago, three months ago. But you know what, it's time for all this to come to an end and end,” the neighbor said.

We spoke with the Director of Asset Management for the Jackson Housing Authority, who said they are committed to continuing to have a positive impact on children in the area.

“In Allenton Heights, we are very fortunate to partner with the Boys and Girls Club. They are on the ground there and that is our alternative. We did a study and put together a group of concerned citizens in Jackson. The City of Jackson and the Jackson Housing Authority joined forces last year in 2023,” the director said.

We will keep you updated on air and online as we work to gather information about the ongoing investigations into these cases.
