Nashville nonprofit donates $50,000 to THP police officer injured in shooting

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A Nashville nonprofit has donated $50,000 to the Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper who was injured in a shooting in mid-July.

The 100 Club of Nashville presented THP Colonel Matt Perry and Tennessee Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Jeff Long with a check to present to Trooper Adam Cothron.

A month after the shooting, Cothron is currently recovering and rehabilitating at an Atlanta hospital.

“The 100 Club’s donation will help the Cothron family with the costs of his recovery,” the 100 Club said.

Founded in 1979, the nonprofit organization is committed to providing financial assistance to the families of first responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty or who have suffered serious, traumatic injuries.

“In addition to the donation to Trooper Cothran, the 100 Club is also supporting Metro Nashville Homicide Sergeant Trevor VonDohlen, who was seriously injured when his police vehicle was struck head-on by a drunk driver on July 10, and Metro Nashville Detective Carlos Diaz, who is recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg on July 15,” the nonprofit said.
