A football meet at Wake Forest High School was canceled on Saturday because of a fight.

A fight between several teenagers outside the stadium led to the High SchoolOT Jamboree football games in Wake Forest being canceled on Saturday.

The event featured seven teams from across the region and, if completed, would have been conducted in a round robin format.

When the fight broke out, two games had already been completed. Jordan defeated Vance County 28-6 in the first game and Millbrook defeated Cardinal Gibbons 28-3 in the second game.

Nevertheless, shortly before kickoff between Wake Forest and Vance County, a large commotion broke out in the stands and in an area directly next to the stadium, according to a city spokesman.

A dozen Wake Forest police officers were already stationed near the stadium to ensure security for the event and were able to respond immediately.

The fight was stopped fairly quickly, but the stadium announcer informed the fans that the remaining fights were canceled just as the crowd began to move toward the exits.

The city spokesman confirmed that no weapons were found on any of the participants and no charges were filed.

The jamboree was sponsored by High SchoolOT, a sports media company that covers local high schools, and was intended in part as a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club.
