Stabbing in Adelanto leads officers to illegal marijuana plantation – VVNG.com

ADELANTO, California (VVNG.com) – Officers investigating an attempted murder in Adelanto discovered an illegal marijuana plantation, officials said.

On Monday, August 19, 2024, at 1:13 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call in the 10600 block of Chesterfield Street.

According to the caller, they could hear people screaming in the apartment and believed that someone needed help.

When officers arrived at the home, they found a 20-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

During the investigation, officers learned that the victim had been stabbed to death by his brother, a 25-year-old. Reymundo Cotaa resident of Spring Valley Lake, during a family dispute.

“When they arrived on the scene, officers discovered an illegal marijuana plantation in the house. They also found an electrical branch and several building code violations. Three small children lived in the house with direct access to the marijuana plantation. The children were placed in the care of child welfare services,” the sheriff's office said in a press release.

Reymundo Cota was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center. He is currently being held on $1,000,000.00 bail.
