Meanwhile, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has arrived in Delhi to discuss the issue with President Droupadi Murmu and national leaders.

On Monday, the governor said during a Raksha Bandhan event at Raj Bhavan: “Democracy is degenerating in West Bengal. This cannot continue. Today we must promise to protect our daughters and sisters.”

Health services across the country have been affected as doctors' strikes have continued for ten days now. The Union Health Ministry has approved a 25 percent increase in security measures in central hospitals to meet doctors' demands for better security.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the case and has taken over the investigation from the Kolkata Police following an order of the Calcutta High Court.
