MURFREESBORO, TN – The MTSU Dairy Farm, normally known for its agricultural achievements, became the scene of a serious crime in 2020.

The meticulous investigative efforts of Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) police resulted in the conviction of a rape suspect in Rutherford County District Court last week. The suspect, 34-year-old Brandon McBee, was found guilty of three counts of rape by Judge James Turner.

The charges against McBee stem from allegations made on the grounds of the MTSU Dairy Farm in August 2020. McBee was accused of committing the sex crimes nearly four years ago, and his case began moving through the legal system in 2022 when criminal proceedings were first opened.

During his trial, McBee was found guilty on all three counts of rape. Following the conclusion of the trial last Wednesday, McBee was taken to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where he will remain in custody pending sentencing.

Sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on October 30, just one day before Halloween. McBee's conviction is a significant victory for MTSU police, who have worked tirelessly to ensure justice is served in this case.

Thanks to the investigative work of MTSU Police, the suspect was arrested and eventually brought to trial, providing closure for the victims involved. Court documents show that the arresting officer, Tommy Roberts, was also the lead investigator on the case – a case that is now closed.
