Director of local nonprofit arrested on drug charges | The Source Weekly

Gary Lee Hewitt, the executive director of local nonprofit St. Vincent de Paul, was arrested on August 15 for distribution of commercial quantities of methamphetamine. The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office determined that Hewitt, 58, was selling commercial quantities of the drug from his residence in Redmond, Oregon.

Detectives from the sheriff's office, along with detectives from the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team, executed a search warrant at Hewitt's residence, which is less than 1,000 feet from two different schools, and discovered a commercial quantity of methamphetamine, scales, packaging materials and U.S. currency, according to a news release.
