New Delhi: A corruption case has been registered against Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RK Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The Kolkata Police has registered a corruption case against the former principal of the Kolkata Hospital based on a complaint filed by IAS officer Debal Ghosh.

Ghosh is already under fire for the rape and murder of a junior doctor at the Kolkata government hospital. The half-naked body of the 31-year-old doctor was found in the hospital's seminar room on August 9. Ghosh, who resigned just two days after the incident, is currently being questioned by the CBI in connection with the case.

On Monday, CBI officials questioned Ghosh for the fourth consecutive day. Over the last three days, he was questioned for several hours by officials of the central investigation agency.

The West Bengal government on Monday set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe allegations of financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital during the period from January 2021 to date. The four-member SIT has the right to access all relevant documents of government departments and private agencies required for its investigation, according to a notification from the West Bengal Home Ministry.
