Video shows police arresting man accused of kidnapping elderly woman

Police have released new video showing the moment they found a Burrillville man accused of kidnapping and attempting to kill an elderly woman.

According to officials, 53-year-old Steven Henning was hiding in the home of a woman in Providence whom he met online.

A video showed police storming a house on Kinfield Street on Sunday and arresting Henning.

NBC 10 tried to speak to the woman, but she declined comment.

According to the documents, Henning has several previous convictions, including for several car thefts.

He was recently accused of attacking his girlfriend in Ohio before heading to Rhode Island in a stolen car.

On Saturday evening, according to police, he met an 80-year-old woman at Wendy's in Coventry.

Henning is accused of later robbing and attacking the woman.

He then put her in the back seat of her car and stole it.

According to police, he drove the woman to Smithfield and then put a belt around her neck.

When she lost consciousness, he left her to die in the forest.

The next morning, the woman regained consciousness, stumbled out of the woods and ran to her neighbors for help.

She was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.

Henning reportedly returned to Smithfield to bury her, not realizing she was gone.

Several charges are being brought against him in several municipalities.

NBC 10's Molly Levine contributed to this report.
