Commuters face problems as one side of Shastri Bridge in Ahmedabad is closed since December 23

Ahmedabad: Commuters are facing problems as only one side of the Shastri Bridge over the Sabarmati river in the city is open for traffic. One side of this bridge, which connects Vishala to Narol, has been closed since last year as the NHAI is carrying out repair work on the 40-year-old dilapidated bridge.

Due to the heavy traffic, travelers can expect to be stuck in traffic jams for hours. In addition, potholes form on the bridge during the monsoon, which slows down traffic even further.

One side of the bridge was closed to traffic for four months starting in the first week of December. But even after 8.5 months, the repairs are still not complete and traffic cannot flow again.

In June, a picture of this bridge, which connects the Vishala area of Vasna in western Ahmedabad with the industrial areas of Narol and Pirana in eastern Ahmedabad, went viral. The photo highlighted the urgent need to repair the joints on the 40-year-old structure. DeshGujarat
