Gardiner man arrested for multiple sex crimes

GARDINER, Oregon – A Gardiner man was arrested on sex crimes charges and booked into the Douglas County Jail, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported.

On Saturday, August 17, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to a reported disturbance in the 70000 block of Highway 101 in Gardiner.

Upon arrival, officers determined that no crimes had been committed during the riots.

As officers prepared to leave, they learned that a juvenile had previously reported to an adult that he had been the victim of a sexual assault by 36-year-old Eric Thomas Cumming of Gardiner.

Police said Cumming was known to the victim.

Officers began an investigation and found reasonable suspicion for Cummings' arrest.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Douglas County Jail where he was incarcerated on the following charges:

  • Unlawful sexual penetration first degree x10
  • First degree sexual abuse x10

Cumming remains in custody at the Douglas County Jail.
