Bouncer arrested for roadside aggression in Bellandur

Bellandur police have arrested a 26-year-old bouncer for causing a ruckus and damaging the car of a software engineer who was returning home with his wife and nine-month-old child in an incident of driving aggression on Sarjapur main road late at night on August 19.

The victim, Soumyashankar, 36, was on his way home from a weekend trip. At around 10.30 pm, he suddenly braked to avoid a bad patch of road. The accused, who was riding behind him on a scooter, crashed into the car. He started shouting at Soumyashankar for suddenly braking.

A heated argument ensued, after which the defendant stopped the car. To get the driver out of the car, he allegedly smashed the windshield with the wiper blade and used a stone

Soumyashankar claimed that there was a baby on board, but the accused was furious and in no mood to listen and allegedly continued to hurl abuse, according to a video taken by the victim.

Passers-by gathered at the scene and alerted the police, who arrested the accused, Naveen Reddy. He was charged under sections 126 (wrongful confinement), 324 (mischief), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 352 (intentionally insulting to provoke disturbance of public peace) of the BNS.

The accused works as a bouncer in a pub. He lives in Bellandur and was on his way home from work, police said.
