Randy Orton reflects on potential problems he would have faced if he had made his debut in the age of social media | WWE News

Randy Orton is one of the most popular superstars of the last 20 years in the WWE and has carved out his own niche in the wrestling business as “The Viper”. Randy is currently fighting for the World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther, at 'Bash In Berlin'. But how would he fare if he had to debut at 19 in today's age of social media? In an interview with Matty Paddock (of TalkSport), Orton answered the million-dollar question himself.

“If I was 19 and signed my developmental contract and went to NXT in 2024, gosh… I don't know, that's a tough question, man. As far as social media goes, it wasn't an issue for the first 10 years of my career. I remember Myspace was around and maybe Facebook came out in 2008 or something, but it wasn't that popular back then.” Randy is clearly not a total proponent of the overdose of social media that is presented to us. As he himself said, he didn't directly embrace the various social media platforms available at the time and took his time getting into the world of social media.

Randy continued the conversation, worrying that everyone now has a camera in their hand and can take pictures of him at any time for better or worse. “I never had Facebook and I think it was around 2011 when I signed up for Twitter and it's been around for a while. I don't know, man, I did some stupid stuff and everyone has a phone with a camera in their pocket now. Honestly? There's no telling how I would do if I grew up in this business in this day and age,” Orton said confusedly. With the kind of notorious personality Orton has, if he had debuted in this day and age as a 19-year-old, he would definitely have gotten into trouble considering his playful nature that matches his cheeky backstage activities.

Randy Orton is a 14-time WWE World Champion and Grand Slam Champion with titles such as the Intercontinental Championship, US Championship and Tag Team Championship. He has also won the Royal Rumble Match twice. The first time in 2010 when he eliminated Triple H to win the contest and the second time in 2017 when he threw Roman Reigns over the ropes to become a two-time Royal Rumble winner. He also won the Money in the Bank contract once in 2013. The “Legend Killer” is sure to be inducted into the “Hall of Fame” in the future and has already accomplished more than any capable wrestler could dream of.
