Sources: Mother and toddler dead after incident at home in North Andover – Boston News, Weather, Sports

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. (WHDH) – Authorities are investigating an incident at a North Andover home Monday that left two people dead, officials said.

According to the Essex District Attorney's Office, officers responding to a reported incident at a home on Turnpike Street found two victims. One was pronounced dead and the other was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where they were later pronounced dead.

According to 7NEWS sources, the victims were a mother and her toddler.

“It's very disturbing,” said Tom Anthony, who lives in the area. “I have children, I have grandchildren, it's just sad. I'm praying for the victims right now.”

Due to a large crime scene, Route 114 was closed for hours on Monday.

“You're completely baffled,” said Anthony. “You come back from work, 114 is closed and then something like this happens.”

Detectives from the North Andover Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the office of Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker are in the early stages of an active investigation.

Police and firefighters were on site from around 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The house was cordoned off with tape and investigators were coming and going.

The sight of such a tragic incident has shocked many.

“It's scary when you see this in a town like North Andover. It shows you that it doesn't matter where you live,” said Katrina MacLean, who lives nearby. “This kind of thing can happen anywhere.”

The public prosecutor's office did not comment on a suspect or whether any arrests had been made.
