NDC’s refusal to sign peace agreement indicates its intention to stir up trouble – Mac Manu

Peter Mac Manu, former national chairman of the New Patriotic Party, criticised the National Democratic Congress's decision not to sign the peace agreement before the 2024 elections.

Mac Manu told 3news.com in a recent interview that the NDC's decision not to sign the document indicated an intention to cause trouble during the elections.

“It is not for Peter Mac Manu to decide what the NDC will do, but I would like to say that it is a disgrace for them not to sign a document that would bring peace to this country. They are out to create unrest,” he said.

The national chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, stated on August 15, 2024 that the party would not sign a peace declaration in view of the upcoming elections in December.

“Signing a peace declaration means nothing to the party because previous agreements have not produced any real results. If you allow violence to arise, it will come whether you sign a declaration or not. That is why I started talking about the need to remove the building blocks for a violent election over a year ago.

“Otherwise, letting these issues escalate and then saying, 'Let's play a peaceful football match, sign a declaration and hope for peaceful elections' will not work. We did all that and more in 2020,” he said.
