Applebee's customer arrested after trying to share his all-you-can-eat order

Sharing is not always caring.

An Applebee's customer was jailed earlier this month for allegedly causing a riot when she and her group tried to offer their entire table an “all you can eat” deal, police said.

Shawneesha Cobbs, 28, was eating dinner at the Portage, Indiana, restaurant on the evening of Aug. 2 when the misunderstanding got out of hand, according to the police report viewed by The Post.

Shawneesha Cobbs, 28, was arrested in Indiana on August 2.

Officers arrived at around 8:38 p.m. because there were reports of a “verbal altercation,” the report said.

The dispatchers had warned the police in advance that there were “several women screaming” and “people threatening.”

Cobbs and her group – including two other adults and several teenagers – told police they ordered an “all you can eat” deal to share with their table guests, the report said.

The discount – which included endless amounts of boneless wings, riblets, Double Crunch shrimp and fries for just $15.99 – was announced just a few days earlier, on July 29.

However, the Applebee's manager told the group that each of them only had to pay for one portion of the deal and presented them with a new bill showing the larger order.

The manager and Cobbs' group subsequently got into an argument over the deal, with guests claiming the manager had become “very unprofessional.”

They also argued that the menu did not state that the offer was “per person,” the police report said.

But when the angry customers handed the menu to the police, they immediately noticed the bold words “per person” under the heading “All you can eat”.

While police attempted to calm Cobbs and the rest of her group, she pointed to a couple leaving the restaurant and claimed she had previously exchanged words with them.

The two groups began fighting again, and Cobbs became “very loud and disorderly, attracting the attention of other patrons,” the police report said.

Another person in her group tried to calm her down, but was unsuccessful.

After several warnings from police, Cobbs was arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to the Porter County Jail.

The police examined the menu and found that it stated that the offer was “per person”. Applebee's Grill + Bar

When one member of their group realized that they had been mistaken about the terms of the “all you can eat” offer, they went back to the restaurant and paid the bill in full.

Applebee's did not immediately respond to The Post's request for comment on the incident. It was not clear when Cobbs was released from jail or when she was due back in court.
