40-year-old Dothan man arrested for raping child

DOTHAN, Alabama (WTVY) – Dothan police arrested 40-year-old Adam Scott Moore of Dothan on Monday, according to a news release.

The arrest came after an online conversation between Moore and the victim, who is under 16, was discovered after she returned home.

Dothan police responded to a call from the girl's guardian, who reported inappropriate messages with someone who looked “too old for the relationship.”

The girl was taken to the Child Advocacy Center for a forensic interview, where she disclosed the sexual relationship Moore had forced upon her.

Officers found Moore at his home and took him to the Dothan Police Department for questioning. During questioning, Moore admitted to the sexual relationship.

Moore admitted to going to the girl's home, picking her up and bringing her to his home. While at his home, “Moore and the juvenile engaged in sexual conduct,” the press release states.

Moore was arrested for second-degree rape and sexual conspiracy with a minor. Moore is being held in the Houston County Jail on $90,000 bail.

Due to the victim's age and the ongoing investigation, Dothan Police said no further information will be made available.
