15-year-old charged with attempted murder after shooting woman in face, prosecutors say

LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana (KPLC) – A Lake Charles teenager will face adult charges after authorities say he ambushed a couple on the street and shot one of the victims in the face.

Noah Ceasar was part of a group of teens who stole alcohol from a convenience store on May 28, said Bethany Bryant, spokeswoman for the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's Office. The group then allegedly encountered a couple walking at the intersection of Enterprise Boulevard and Alamo Street and demanded the money at gunpoint.

When the victims didn't give up their money, Ceasar shot the woman in the jaw, Bryant said. Her boyfriend then shot back at Ceasar.

Ceasar was hospitalized and arrested after his release on June 18. He was initially charged with grievous bodily harm, which has now been upgraded to attempted murder.

Bryant said the teen will be tried as an adult due to the violence he is accused of in his alleged crime. He is charged with attempted second-degree murder, armed robbery and armed robbery with a firearm.

Caesar was transferred from the juvenile detention center to the Calcasieu Correctional Center on Friday. Sheriff's office officials said he was in isolation from adults.

The shooting victim is at home and doing well, Bryant said.

Leroy Morris, 17, was arrested the night of the robbery. He is being held at the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is charged with armed robbery, armed robbery with a firearm, second-degree aggravated assault and possession of a stolen firearm.
