Janitor of Coffee Co. school on campus arrested for drug trafficking

AMBROSE, GA (WALB) – A man has been arrested and faces multiple charges in a drug investigation in Coffee County.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), a joint investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Southeastern Regional Drug Enforcement Office and the Broxton Police Department resulted in a search warrant for a home in Ambrose on Wednesday, August 14.

Authorities identified 47-year-old homeowner Andrew Jowers as a suspect in the investigation.

While executing the search warrant, GBI agents discovered a criminal amount of marijuana in Jowers' home.

The Coffee County Board of Education Police Department arrested Jowers at Ambrose Elementary School, where he worked as a janitor, and took him to the Coffee County Law Enforcement Center.

Multiple agencies conducted this investigation to impact the current street drug trade in Coffee County and create a safer place for productive citizens, the press release said.

Jowers is charged with distribution of marijuana and use of telecommunications facilities to commit or facilitate the commission of a crime.

The GBI Southeastern Regional Drug Enforcement Office and the Broxton Police Department are requesting further information.
