Thirty-year-old Danville man in serious condition after nighttime shooting

Below is a statement from the Danville Police Department

On Tuesday morning, 8/20/24, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Danville Police officers responded to the 1100 block of Chandler Street after receiving 911 calls about shots fired in the area. When officers arrived on scene, they found several shell casings in the street.

In the 1300 block of Chandler, officers found a 30-year-old Danville man sitting in a white vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he is currently in serious condition.

Witnesses at the scene reported hearing numerous gunshots and seeing a dark vehicle quickly leaving the scene after the shots were fired.

Danville Police are asking the public for help. If anyone has information about the shooting, please contact Detective Johnson with the Danville Police Department at 217-431-2245. A reward of up to $1,000 may be offered for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in this incident.
